Eating My Feelings

30 Day Writing Challenge – Day 5

What are your favorite comfort foods and why?

I really wish I could list broccoli and quinoa, but those make me uncomfortable… I’ll eat anything as long as it’s a chocolate covered starch/carbohydrate. The following is a list of reasons why I will most likely have to join Weight Watchers at some point in the not-too-distant future.

Chocolate. Duh. I really wish this didn’t make my list, but I’m a female and I’m relatively sane, so it’s at the top. I once met a girl who claimed to dislike sweets. She was a nice enough girl, but probably a liar.

Popcorn. It’s amazing. You can eat a lot of it, it’s filling, it’s high in fiber, and there aren’t a lot of calories. (Unless you put a lot of salt and butter on it.) It also reminds me of watching movies with my family. A perfect evening includes popcorn, a good movie, and fuzzy socks.

Soft pretzels. All the comfort of bread in a delicious pretzelly twist. Cover this bad boy in cinnamon sugar, and prepare to eat your feelings.

Strawberries. Me and strawberries go way back. They’ve always been my favorite. They taste like summer afternoons when I was a carefree child. My mom used to take us to pick our own. They’re better that way, trust me.

Grapes. They’re delicious, healthy, and you can eat a lot of them without feeling guilty! (That’s the best part.)

This post made me hungry.

Pizza. If pizza didn’t make my list, I’d be a liar like that girl from the first act.

I am always in need of comfort, so any food is comfort food to me.
